The 40V max XGT Brushless Cordless 4-1/2" / 5" Angle Grinder (GAG04M1) delivers corded grinding performance without the cord for the most demanding applications. It is powered by a Makita-built brushless motor that delivers variable speeds from 3,000–8,500 RPM for heavy-load applications, increased power, and faster cutting.
The GAG04M1 delivers up to 60% faster cutting speed when cutting #5 (5/8") rebar and is ideal for grinding and cutting a wide range of materials, including tile, concrete, pipe, conduit, and more.
An electric current limiter helps protect the motor from overload in high-torque applications. Additional features include an electric brake that stops the wheel in 2 seconds or less and Active Feedback-sensing Technology (AFT), which shuts the motor off if the wheel rotation is forced to a stop.
A slide switch with lock-on provides convenience, while tool-less guard rotation allows for quick adjustments to increase productivity. Anti-restart protection prevents the motor from starting when the battery is inserted while the switch is locked on, and soft start ensures smooth start-ups.
Built for tough jobsite conditions, the GAG04M1 features wire mesh intake covers to keep debris out, reinforced metal gear housing for durability, and Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) to help resist dust and water intrusion.
The XGT system includes tools, batteries, and chargers that use 40V max lithium-ion batteries, engineered to deliver high power for demanding applications and allow users to fully transition to a cordless job site.
